Rock.
I hate the fact my passion for music lies within popular rock music. Well actually, I love the fact. Um. Yeah.
What I mean is, to most people, the fact that I play basically mainstream means I’m doing it because its cool, or because its fun and thats the sort of music I’m meant to like. You know, it just makes me look like a stereotypical teenager who has a band at school and who will probably get bored of it because he cant learn that popular song quickly enough.
Also, its apparently technically futile and all chords and solos suck, and have no depth. Apparently its all attitude, and no talent. Music to make money from. This is not at all how I see it. I actually play and listen to music for the complete opposite reasons. I do accept some bastards do it for the money, but not me.
Also, I know he doesn’t say it, but I can tell my dad doesn’t like the music I do, he doesn’t really approve, you know, supportive and enthusiastic, be he just would love it if I played proper music, as to show that I like “actual music” rather than “monotonus distorted crap”.
How EVA, I find myself incredibly fortunate that it is the popular music I love, because it just makes my future career in music far more realistic. Of course, if it wasn’t sellable, I would still try as hard as possible to make a living from it, but luckily, I might not have to worry about that.
